It is possible to side load the resource containers.
Reasons to side load the resources:
- The Internet is either slow, intermittent, or unavailable so sideloading will be faster and without fails.
Steps to side load the resources onto a computer:
First – download the latest updates in BTT Writer
- At the home screen, click on the 3-dot menu
- Choose Update
- Choose Update List of Available Source Texts
- NOTE: This process ONLY updates the list of the available source texts.
- Wait for the update to complete. This may take a long time to complete – depending on bandwidth. (The program may seem to hang on the 99%, just wait.)
- NOTE: you may receive notice that it was not complete. Sometimes this notice is not accurate, but you may want to restart the download to try again.
- Close the window.
Second – download and choose the desired language sources
- The ‘Choose a language’ window opens
- Click in the dot to choose either the language or book
- Enter the name of the language
- Choose Category (Old Testament, New Testament, Other)
- For the OT and NT – select all by clicking in the Select All box
- For the Other – select translation Words (Bible)
NOTE: you only need to download the Words once for them to be available for all books.
- Click on the Download button to update the sources.
- Click ‘close’ when the download is complete.
- Click on Home at the top left to return to the home screen.
Third – copy the most current resource containers available.
Do this step on the computer that has the most recent copies of the resources.
NOTE: this process may take an hour or more to move the files for 66 books from the external drive. You might want to consider using a SD card for this process so that the tablet can be charging at the same time.
HINT: The Tech Support Person might want to download the latest resource containers onto their computer before going to a MAST Event.
