India uses Type D plug, which is basically compatible with the Type C plugs used in Europe, but the connection is not always solid because the distance between pins is different. Adapters for Type D are inexpensive, and worth getting before your trip. Type D also supports grounding, which Type C doesn't.
In addition, India uses Type M plugs for high amperage connections. This connector is also used in southern Africa, so it's worth getting and bringing one.
Tourists can get an e-visa from the government website for about $10.
Airtel provides data and voice affordably.
Currently, (May 2022) India requires a negative PCR test with the sample taken no more than 72 hours before travel, or a vaccine card.
